Instructions

Cheese Straws!

On Wednesday we received a letter from the baker asking us to make some cheese straws for Queen Victoria! We know that cheese straws were a very popular dish in Victorian times! We set to it and followed the written instructions to bake some delicious cheesy straws! Here are the steps we followed if you would like to make some at home!

You will need:
120g butter, softened
450g grated cheddar cheese
250g plain flour
1 teaspoon of salt

Step 1- First, wash your hands thoroughly

Step 2- Mix the cheese and butter together gently

Step 3- Add in the flour and salt, mix carefully with your hands

Step 4- When the dough is stretchy (but not sticky), roll out the cheese straws on a floured board then chop in to smaller pieces!

Step 5- Place the cheese straws on to a greased baking tray

Step 6- Bake the cheese straws in a preheated oven at 190 degrees for 10-12 minutes

Step 7- Place your cheese straws on a wire rack to cool down. Once they are cool enough, enjoy!

On Thursday we filled in the missing instructions to make cheese straws, we are pros!
