Key Stage 1 Parent Workshop
We loved our Parent Workshop last week! Year 1 and 2 made medals to present to George Stephenson, winner of the Rain Hill Trials! Miss Howe and Mrs Richardson were so impressed by our final creations! Thank-you so much to all of the parents and carers involved in our special afternoon!
Here's a closer look at some of our medals!
In year 2, we know that we are all winners!

Year 2 White Mere's Got Talent Auditions
We have loved auditioning for White Mere's Got Talent! Year 2 were very confident when performing to their peers and really got their audience involved, they had everyone up on their feet, dancing, singing, and joining in! Even Miss Howe! Well done to all of the children who took part! We can't wait to see the finals next week!
Year 2- Arts Week
Last week was our whole school 'Arts Week'. In year 2, we spent our afternoons learning about India and their cultural celebration 'Dawali' (or 'The Festival of Lights'). We created lots of fantastic art work inspired by India, including paper lanterns, Rangoli patterns, Henna hand designs, and tea-light holders! We enjoyed being crafty! Here are some of our beautiful creations!

Art Week - Mud Painting
While hunting for bugs, we found some different colours of soil so we could make our own mud paint, just like the Aborigine people did! What fun!

It's a Pirate's Life for Me
Shiver me timbers! Reception really enjoyed their Pirate-themed parent workshop before half term. We had a choice of making parrot puppets, designing a treasure map and a pirate hat. It was so much fun!
We are Architects, Engineers and Builders!
Our new topic is Growth, and so this week we have been having lots of fun doing activities around Jack and the Beanstalk!
On Monday, we realised the Giant didn't have a castle and decided we would like to make one for him! We split into two groups and Mrs Curnow found some boxes for us to use. We discussed what our castle would need and drew a plan together, thinking about what we would use to make different parts of the castle and stick it together with.
What do you think of our super work?
For our design we said we'd like to: have turrets, draw windows on with felts, have a flag with a giant on, make a drawbridge held on with string, cut a door out and make a sign to tell dragons to keep away (with a picture of a dragon on in a circle with a cross through it!). What fantastic ideas!
