How light travels

In our science topic we have been learning about the properties of light and how it behaves.

Here the children took part in an experiment that allowed us to make predictions about how lights behaviour can effect its visibility when passing through different materials.

Initially the light travelled through the clear transparent water easily. As we added food colouring to the water the amount of particles in the water increased. This meant that the light had more particles to reflect off or be absorbed by. It was harder for the light to travel through the water without particle resistant and slowly but surely the water became translucent and then opaque.

Year 3 showed brilliant skills at understanding the appropriate language to use in the experiment and they continued to use them across all the tasks of the lesson. Well don year 3. A special thank you to Miss Allison for her brilliant work in the lesson.
