I am good at...

We looked at photos from our time in Reception so far and said what was happening in the pictures and what the person in each one was showing they are good at. We are good at singing, dancing, reading, numbers, being kind, making people laugh, painting, building, laughing and so much more!

We then thought of something we feel we are really good at and drew a picture of ourselves doing that.

What do you think you are good at? Reception think we could help each other get better at things and encourage one another with kind words!

Where I belong

Having thought about where animals in the jungle live and why, we talked about what our homes are I like and who we live with. We drew a picture of our house and the people we live with. Some children listened to the sounds in words and wrote labels for their pictures.

We are so glad we have a place we can call 'home'; a place where we belong.

World book day fun!

Y6 enjoyed dressing as their favourite book characters today. It was great to see how imaginative everybody was in assembly - although it proved hard to recognise some pupils! Teachers had very difficult decisions to make when judging the best costume within each class as everybody had made such a good effort!

Fraction Fun

Today we have been investigating how we can add and subtract fractions with the same denominator. We had to complete lots of challenges.

Y6 Bake sale for the Children of Syria.

Y6 were keen to raise money for the Children of Syria and decided that a bake sale would be a great idea within school. What a range of fantastic cakes - they were certainly in demand! An amazing £75 was collected - congratulations go to all concerned.

Victorians

This week we had some visitors from Durham University for a one day workshop all about the Victorians! Our visitors were very impressed by all of the amazing facts we already knew about Queen Victoria and the Victorian period!

We looked at what our local area was like in Victorian times using our map skills, then we drew our own map to show what the area looks like now! We talked about the similarities and differences!

We also looked at what homes were like in the Victorian times and even got to look at some real Victorian artefacts! We dressed up as Victorians too and next week we will be drawing self- portraits of ourselves as Victorians to follow the session up!

We learned lots of new facts and enjoyed a fun filled day!

Goodbye Miss Winter

This week we were sad to say goodbye to our student teacher Miss Winter who has been gaining some teaching experience in our year 2 class. We have loved having her with us over the last few weeks and we wish her lots of luck for the future!

We pulled our silliest faces for the front of Miss Winter's card to make her smile! :)
