Jack and the Beanstalk Number Fun!

We are so good at using numbers! In our first week back after half term, we ordered bean numbers to 20 on a washing line, played a Jack and the Beanstalk board game, put beanstalk pictures in height order, counted beans to see how many filled a pot up to a line and played an adding game with magic beans and a shaker!

'You got 6 - here you go, you move here.'

'It's your turn now.'

'This one has 13 in.'

'This one has 9 and that one has more.'

What good teamwork!

Put 5 (or 10) beans into the cup and shake it. Every bean has one side that is gold (magic) and one side is white. They are called butter beans.

Then tip them out and count how many of them are 'magic' beans and how many are normal.
6 are magic and 4 are normal. There are 10 altogether. So 6 + 4 = 10.

Can you find any other ways of making 10?
What different ways can you find of making 5?
