Y5 Creative Artwork!

For a homework project, Y5 were asked to create a piece of artwork inspired by the painting ‘St Michael triumphant over the devil’ which was the focus painting for our school art week.

Y5 focused specifically on the ‘devil’ and were asked to create a piece of artwork based on a devil or mythical creature, inspired by this painting!

Look what they created…

Fabulous Fencing!

We are very proud to introduce our fencing team from Y5, who represented our school at a recent fencing competition! Due to their fantastic performances, White Mere came third! A huge congratulations to our super team!

Fantastic Forces!

Y5 had fun learning about forces with Mr Watkins, a specialist science teacher, last week. We investigated air resistance and conducted an experiment to answer the question: Is air resistance a force?

We conducted our experiment outside using force metres and bin bags, to act as parachutes! Before we began, we had to construct a table of results to record our values.

We developed our understanding of cause and effect. Cause refers to the variable we control. We controlled the number of bin bags used. Effect refers to the variable we measure. We measured the force when we ran with our parachutes, using a force meter.

Our lesson was extremely fun and interesting! Thank you Mr Watkins!
